Our Infertility Timeline

  • 1995/1996 - Doug has testicular cancer, is able to freeze several vials of sperm for later use.
  • October 2001 – First Date!
  • October 2003 – Engaged!
  • February 2004 – Married!
  • November 2004 – First RE appointment, Doug is confirmed sterile, have 12 vials of sperm from 1996 to work with.
  • February 2005 – First IUI w/ Clomid = BFN
  • March 2006 - FSH 11.96 (at age 24)
  • March/April 2006 - Long Lupron Protocol IVF w/ ICSI and Assisted Hatching = BFN  - 12 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 5 fertilized, 2 embryos make it to Day 3; are transferred.
  • *Big IF Break*
  • July 2007 -  FSH 12.3 (at age 26)
  • August 2007 – IUI w/ Follistim = BFN
  • *Another Big IF Break*
  • May 2010 - Day 3 bloodwork shows FSH 9.21, AMH 1.2 and 17 antral follicles (at age 29)
  • September/October 2010 – IVF #2: The Final Chapter. New protocol and donor sperm. Taking 25mg DHEA to help follicular production. New drugs, Bravelle, Letrozole, Dexamethasone & Ganarelix. 11 eggs retrieved, 10 mature, 9 fertilized, (3) 8-cell embryos transferred - none left to freeze. = BFP (kinda) Beta #1 - 22, Beta #2 - 48, Beta #3 - 123.  Start bleeding at 5wk2days, Beta #4 - 33, confirms miscarriage. 
  • January 11, 2011 - dIUI #1 with Bravelle = BFN
  • February/March 2011- IUI #4 with Bravelle & stored sperm from 1996 = BFN
  • November 2011 - IVF #3: Are we really doing this again? - 10 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 2 fertilized with husband's sperm, 4 fertilized with donor sperm. (1) 9-cell embryo, (1) 8-cell embryo and (1) 7-cell embryo transferred - none left to freeze. = BFP Beta #1 - 130, Beta #2 - 415. Heartbeat detected at 6wk6day ultrasound.
